This is mainly a beach fishing location but it is possible to fish from rocks at the Hendra ( Helston ) end of the beach.
In the past I have been able to scrape sand eels for bait on this beach but in recent years the numbers available have declined. The beach tends to change very quickly from being very sandy to very stony and this makes it difficult to scrape.
I have not attempted to get sand eels at this spot for many years so it may be worth a try again.
Any way, back to the fishing. Many species of fish have been caught from this beach but it is mainly a Ray and Bass beach. Plaice and Turbot can be caught and I have even had a couple of Flounder.
For the Bass, I personally, have found that it is best from about half tide to high tide. I have not had very many at low tide or as the tide starts to go out again.

Again, like Looe Bar, the Bass can be caught on a
variety of baits, sand eel, lug worm or rag worm are my favourites but you will need to experiment a bit. I do not remember ever trying live sand eel at this spot but I should think that it would be very successful. ( Please let me know if you try it and get some good Bass. )
The Turbot and Ray are mainly caught on sand eel or mackerel and the plaice and flounders on lug or rag.
I have found whilst Bass fishing that it is indeed a very good idea to use two or three hooks so that you can fish for the Bass with one hook whilst trying a bit of worm on the other hooks for the flatties. Anyway, as I stated above the bass will take worm on this beach as well.
In calm conditions floating from the beach can be productive as Mackerel and Garfish will come in close.
I have not had any mullet from here but from the rocks it may be possible.

Flounder can be caught in all of the Harbours and pictured are four of the MBAS
Juniors. Pictured left to right: Ben Gregg, Leo Brown, Stephen Clemens and
William Treneer.
