Carn-Du is the point at the mouth of Lamorna Bay and you can walk to it from the Lamorna car park without too much trouble. It is quite a long walk so be careful not to take too much gear.
This is an excellent spot for the very big Garfish and Mackerel in the summer and, in fact, at the moment good Garfish are being caught.
I have also had some very nice wrasse from Carn-Du. It is possible to get both Ballan and Corkwing's so it is important to make sure you have some crabs and rag worm. Crabs and large worm for the Ballan's and harbour rag for the Corkwing's.
Some very good Conger have also been caught here but I must admit that I have not yet tried myself. I have had rockling on the bottom so it is worth a try.
If you stand on the end of the rock and face Lamorna, you have a sandy bed but if you look out to sea in the opposite direction the bed is rock and weed. Cast towards Lamorna for the flatties and the other direction for the Wrasse, Pollack, Mackerel and Garfish.
Again I have had Mullet but they need plenty of Shervey. You will also find that this will improve the Corkwing fishing
Shervey will tempt the Garfish to come closer but unusually, the majority are caught at distance with large floats which can be cast a long way.
Whether you float, spin or fish on the bottom here you are certain to have a good days fishing and it is well worth the long walk.
Always experiment with different methods. If you fail to catch something on the bottom put a float on or try a bit of spinning.

Here are some good fish from the
Carn-Du area.
Clockwise from top left:
Nick Hichens with his potential British
Record Corkwing Wrasse, Carl Howard with a nice Cuckoo Wrasse and Leo Brown and Adrian Johnson with good Garfish.
